The
campaign to re-elect Congressman Brian Baird
is in full swing. Lewis County Democrats are getting organized to ensure
Brian's victory in the Third Congressional District for a third time!
Brian and over 20 volunteers proudly walked in the Chehalis 4th of July
Parade. On July 6th, over 80 volunteers from throughout the state gathered
to make more than 3,800 lawn signs for the campaign.
We must remind voters of all that Congressman Baird has accomplished and of his dedication to the issues that are important to Lewis County and Washington's Third District. Congressman Baird worked to acquire $350,000 in federal funding for flood control projects in the Chehalis River Basin in 1999. His tireless efforts to fight the spread of methamphetamine use and manufacture have resulted in the focusing of federal funding into programs in Washington. He also continues to encourage and assist with applications for federal grants, such as one that provided $51,000 for local economic development programs in Lewis and Cowlitz Counties.
Since Congressman Baird's first election to the United States Congress in 1998 he has held more than 170 town hall meetings in the district, at least one in every incorporated town. He is extremely proud of the opportunity provided by his position, to serve the people of Lewis County and Southwest Washington.
